This scholarship established by the Veterans Affairs Advisory Board of DeKalb County, Inc. (VAAB) is in honor and support of Georgia Residents. VAAB is dedicated to connecting and helping America’s military and veteran families through healing activities and community outreach. This scholarship can also be used to pay for portions of school loans provided the student provides a copy of the loan contract, loaning institution, and payment instructions.
Applicants, or their immediate spouse or parent, must have served during United States Combat Operations at any point during their career of service. Proof of attendance or graduation, and military service must be provided to the VAAB Chair via email at firstname.lastname@example.org prior to award of the scholarship that will be paid to the educational institution, educational loan servicer, or individual at the discretion of the scholarship committee. THE SCHOLARSHIP AWARDEE MUST BE PRESENT AT 11:00 AM ON November 8, 2019 at Maloof Auditorium, 1300 Commerce Drive, Decatur, GA 30030, OR THE ALTERNATE WILL RECEIVE THE AWARD. The AWARDEE WILL NEED TO SIGN A WAIVER FOR THE USE OF YOUR PHOTO TO BE USED IN VAAB RELATED MATERIALS.
PLEASE COMPLETE THE BELOW FORM. Must submit verified copies of official transcripts of the last post secondary institutions attended that is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, and military documentation that shows proof of honorable discharge.
Basis for Selection: Must be a Veteran, Military Spouse or Military child accepted to US DOE recognized college or training institute or a High School/GED graduate, that has completed a undergraduate certificate, Associate, Bachelors, Masters, or Doctorate Degree in the Business, Accounting, Engineering, Information Technology, or science related field at a US DOE recognized college or training institute IN GEORGIA.
Deadline: Midnight,September 4, 2019.
Eligibility: Must have achieved or maintained a minimum 3.0 GPA.
Number of Students: 2 Awarded Annually. (One in spring and One in the Fall)
Students receiving this scholarship are eligible to receive residual funds from scholarship funds.
The following information must be received by the Scholarship Committee before action can be taken on your application.

- Scanned/digital copy of DD-214, or Active Duty Orders with Social Security No. Blacked Out
- Scanned/digital copy of Driver’s License or State ID
Please submit a 300-word essay on the topic of: My Past, Present, and Future. Omitting the attached essay will disqualify you as an applicant.
Submit with copies of transcripts of college or trade school attendance, proof of military service, proof of honorable military service, and copy of driving license or state identification with your current identification.
