                  Veterans Affairs Advisory Board of DeKalb County ­ Scholarship Application. DEADLINE Midnight, November 30, 2020

This scholarship established by the Veterans Affairs Advisory Board of DeKalb County, Inc. (VAAB) is in honor and support of Georgia Residents.  VAAB is dedicated to connecting and helping America’s military and veteran families through healing activities and community outreach. This scholarship can also be used to pay for portions of school loans provided the student provides a copy of the loan contract, loaning institution, and payment instructions, and the debt is not in default.

Applicants, or their immediate spouse or parent, must have served during United States Combat Operations at any point during their career of service. Proof of attendance or graduation, and military service must be provided to the VAAB Chair via email at drwilliams101st@gmail.com prior to award of the scholarship that will be paid to the educational institution, educational loan servicer, or individual at the discretion of the scholarship committee. THE SCHOLARSHIP AWARDEE MUST SUBMIT A VIDEO ACCEPTANCE OF THE AWARD WITHIN 14 DAYS OF THE NOTICE OF AWARD to drwilliams101st@gmail.com, OR THE ALTERNATE WILL RECEIVE THE AWARD. The AWARDEE WILL NEED TO SIGN A WAIVER FOR THE USE OF YOUR PHOTO TO BE USED IN VAAB RELATED MATERIALS.

Application Procedure:

PLEASE COMPLETE THE BELOW FORM. Must submit verified copies of official transcripts of the last post­ secondary institutions attended that is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, and military documentation that shows proof of honorable discharge.

 

Basis for Selection: Must be a Veteran, Military Spouse or Military child accepted to US DOE recognized college or technical training institute or a High School/GED graduate, that is currently enrolled AND has complete at least one quarter or one semester in a technical certificate program, an undergraduate certificate, Associate, Bachelors, Masters, or Doctorate Degree in the Business, Accounting, Engineering, Information Technology, or science related field at a US DOE recognized college or training institute IN GEORGIA. Current High School Students who are residents of Georgia AND attend a Georgia High School with acceptance letters to any of the top 33 colleges and universities in the US published in the annual college rankings of  USnews.com may also apply.

Eligibility: Must have achieved or maintained a minimum 3.0 GPA.

 

Number of Students: 2 Awarded Annually.

 

Amount: $1500
